Running Post Hanna

Today was my first log run in a couple of weeks after injuring my foot. I am now easing back into my marathon training, but with only 8 weeks to go until MCM, I'm going to need to revise my goals.

I ran 12 miles on the trails near me this morning. They are always a mess after heavy rain and with Hanna blowing through here yesterday, I knew that they would be really bad. I started the run by slipping the mud and falling into a creek on the first five minutes of the run. Nothing like running in shoes filled with mud and water for 11.8 miles.

This is part of the trail. Not a creek, but the trail. I had to climb into the woods to get around this stuff a few times.

I had to climb over trees in a few spots:

I ran by the Accotink Marina. I had expected to see it trashed, but it was in pretty good shape. Oddly enough, the parking lot was destroyed in spots.

It was really too bad to see the baseball field trashed. The wall of water and debris destroyed most of the bleachers, fences and the field.
